Summit for sunrise and experience breathtaking views.This two-day journey begins with an afternoon departure from Dili, heading towards the picturesque village of Hatabulico. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a warm cultural welcome and enjoy a traditional Timorese dinner at a local guesthouse. It’s early to bed, as tomorrow’s adventure starts well before dawn.Rising at 3:30 AM, you’ll embark on a trek up Mount Ramelau, a hike that takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to ascend and about 1 hour to descend. The path is well-worn and steadily climbs to the summit, where you’ll need warm clothes and a raincoat due to the colder, windier conditions. Reaching the summit in time for sunrise, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views over the hinterland. After descending, a traditional breakfast awaits in Hatabulico, followed by a visit to a traditional Timorese Uma Lulik (sacred house) and WWII caves, which once sheltered Australian soldiers and later served as hideouts during Timor’s fight for independence from Indonesia.Departing late morning, we’ll stop in Aileu for a late lunch and coffee, arriving in Dili by 4PM. This adventure promises not only the thrill of a sunrise summit but also deep cultural and historical insights into the heart of Timor-Leste.
