The perfect family-friendly introduction to canyoning, located just outside of Dili.

Embark on an unforgettable canyoning adventure in Aileu, where you’ll explore rivers, waterfalls, and more. This half-day experience offers an exhilarating blend of rock hopping, refreshing swims, a thrilling 12m abseil, and expert instruction in canyoning techniques.

Your adventure begins with a 30-minute drive from Dili to the mouth of Mota (river) Kotalau. Access to the canyon is via a designated track, followed by a picturesque 45-minute walk upstream along the riverbed, incorporating rock hopping and jumping en route to the abseil site. The site offers a hand-over-hand ascent up a waterfall and two 10 – 12m abseil descents. Plus, a 20 minute rock hopping extension to the base of a 45m waterfall. Given the nature of the activity, come prepared to get wet.

Suitable for ages 8 and up, it’s the perfect family-friendly adventure, combining excitement with skill-building in a breathtaking natural setting.

“My first time doing canyoning and is once in a lifetime experience. I had the best view of Timor’s barely explored nature and got really close to it as well. It felt really safe and everything was well organized as well as extremely friendly guides, lovely people. Can’t wait to do more canyoning.”
